About Shienu Cookerthon: Shienu Cookerthon is a one day communial cooking competition built around the 5 elements - Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Spirit - where food is the vehicle for generational knowledge exchange. The event consists of 4 adult teams cooking and competing while Under 18 activities run in parallel sessions by age circles. Everyone converges at the communial table to share learnings, joy, Afrikan pride and knowledge. Honor us with your presence as a competitor, vendor, child/teen participants, just an observer or a supporter. Bring one gift, leave with something you did not come with. Let us keep the torch of our ancestral memory alive in us through our powerful culinary practices in Ubuntu.
